Systemax saves CompUSA from knacker's yard
Systemax is buying the CompUSA brand name, its ecommerce operations and up to 16 stores in the great CompUSA close-out sale. The big US computer reseller hails CompUSA as a "strong complementary" business to its own retail TigerDirect brand and is paying up to $30m for its new baby, depending on how many stores it actually buys. CompUSA went titsup last month, selling itself to Gordon Brothers for an undisclosed sum. Gordon, a Boston-based restructuring specialist, said it would it close CompUSA's 103 retail stores in an orderly wind-down and run the electronics retailer's ecommerce site until a buyer was found. . In honor of Mo's Festivus Celebration, I have decided on celebrating the first part of Festivus, the airing of grievances. Here are some of the things that I hate: - When you are waiting in line at the gas station behind the guy picking lotto scratch offs like they are hedge funds. "I need a Cactus Cash...no, wait.....Jackrabbit Dollars..no..." - When the media tries to say that "we" are all responsible for something, like steroids. "Well, we all watched the games, and the increase in home runs, so that just goes to show that steroids doesn't matter and we are just as responsible..." When you are a fan of a sport and a team, you just can't shut it off due to one issue. Just b/c I love this country doesn't mean I am in support of interning the Japanese during WWII, slavery, testing diseases on black army men at Tuskogee, etc. More>>
